Graduated with honors from the Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Warsaw, completing a one-year research scholarship in European and Swiss banking law at the University of Zurich, funded by the Swiss Government. Subsequently, he obtained the degree of Doctor of Legal Sciences by unanimous resolution of the Institute of Legal and Administrative Sciences at the Faculty of Law and Administration of UW based on his doctoral dissertation titled “Legal aspects of biometric in banking.” The assistant professor at the University of Warsaw, conducting lectures and seminars in banking law, financial supervision, and economic law, including competition law and state aid. Passed the bar exam and is registered on the list of attorneys.
Mariusz has transactional and regulatory experience gained in the Banking & Finance departments of international law firms (Clifford Chance, White & Case). He also acquired competencies in high managerial positions, serving for several years as Chief Operating Officer in Central and Eastern Europe for Hitachi, performing legal assessments, commercialization, and negotiating the implementation of innovative technology projects in regulated sectors, mainly in the banking and energy sectors. For several years, Mariusz served as the Director of the Compliance Department at one of the commercial banks, responsible for changing and implementing the Compliance culture, increasing the bank’s value, and reorganizing processes, identifying, monitoring, assessing, mitigating, and reporting compliance risks. For over a decade, collaborated with the Polish Bank Association, the Banking Technology Forum, and the European Financial Congress. Mariusz is currently a member of the Banking Ethics Commission at the Polish Bank Association.
Mariusz is co-author of scientific publications on banking law (including ‘Commentary on Banking Law’, published by C.H. Beck, and the monograph ‘FinTech New Technologies in the Banking Sector’, published by C.H. Beck). Completed Executive programs at IESE Business School and participated in legislative processes at the European Union level, providing opinions on legal changes in the field of banking, including those related to the BMR regulation for the European Economic and Social Committee, with the involvement of the European Commission, the European Parliament, and ESMA. Mariusz has handled key and pioneering projects for the most important entities in the banking and technology sectors, also involving foreign investors.
In his private life – interested in historic motorcycles and travel. Mariusz is passionate about his legal work – skillfully combining the world of science with creating concrete and practical solutions that meet the most complex needs of clients.
